Greece 2024 is a collection of photos showcasing the beauty and history of Greece, a place known for democracy, gods, and architecture. Through photos captured during my holiday in this ancient land, the project gives viewers a glimpse into the rich culture and heritage of Greece.

Modern Athens

Welcome to modern Athens, showcasing the modern city that has risen from the ashes of World War 2. Athens, the capital of an ancient world, is renowned for its buildings, people, and ideas. After World War 2, Athens was rebuilt into the modern and bustling city that you see today.

Ancient Athens

Embark on a journey through time to Ancient Athens. Explore the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympics, and where the torch relay starts. Dating back to the 4th century BC. Next to the Acropolis, a historical temple site dating back to the 4th century BC. It is unbelievable even when you are amongst it. Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of ancient Athens, including a visit to the renowned Acropolis museum.

Saronic Island Hoping

The Saronic Islands offer a perfect mix of natural beauty and history, making them an unforgettable getaway. During my trip, I visited Hydra, with its car-free cobblestone streets and stunning architecture; Poros, known for its vibrant harbor and pine-covered hills; and Aegina, home to the ancient Temple of Aphaia, the revered Church of Saint Nectarios, and delicious pistachios. Each island had its own unique charm, creating lasting memories of this enchanting Greek archipelago.

Corinth – Nafplion

Embark on a captivating journey through Greece, starting at the historic Corinth Canal, a centuries-old idea realized in the 19th century. From there, travel to Nafplion, the picturesque capital of Argolis, where I climbed the 999 steps to the iconic Palamidi Fortress, a marvel of Venetian architecture with breathtaking views. The adventure continued with a short boat ride to the enchanting water castle of Bourtzi, nestled in the bay, offering a glimpse into Greece’s storied past. Each stop along this route captured the essence of history, beauty, and exploration.

Olympia

Join me on a journey to Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, where history comes alive amidst ancient ruins and the treasures of its fascinating museum. Walking through this iconic site was a step back in time to the origins of global athletic tradition. From there, I traveled to Delphi, the mythical center of the ancient world, where I stayed at the Amalia Hotel Delphi. With its stunning views of the valley below, this serene retreat perfectly complemented the awe-inspiring exploration of the sacred Oracle and the surrounding archaeological wonders.

Delphi – Kalambaka

The day began with a magical visit to the Oracle of Delphi, where exploring the awe-inspiring site and soaking in its mystical aura was an unforgettable experience—I even listened closely for whispers of prophecy. From there, the journey continued to Kalambaka, a town that feels otherworldly with its unique charm and dramatic landscapes. Before ending the evening with a delicious souvlaki, I wandered through the fascinating hermit caves of Badovas, uncovering the quiet stories of those who once sought solitude in their rugged beauty.

Meteora

On my final day in Greece before heading to Turkey, I journeyed through the awe-inspiring region of Meteora. My first stop was the Varlaam Monastery, a stunning historical marvel perched atop a mountain that seems to float among the clouds. The serenity and beauty of this sacred site were truly unforgettable. Next, I visited the Monastery of Saint Stephen, run by nuns and offering breathtaking views that seemed to stretch endlessly across the landscape. This day was a perfect farewell to Greece, a land where history and natural beauty intertwine seamlessly.
