Photo-Journal Around Brighton 10-06-24

In preparation for my big trip later in the year I bought a camera, and spent a little time taking some pictures near my house. I have a few months before I go on holiday and want to learn how to use the camera before I am on my trip.

Around the corner from my place is Kamesburgh Gardens. When I am on a walk or a run I often go through here. This little structure is the first thing i see when i go in the side entrance.

Everytime I see it I think of the structures that the wealthy would build in Victorian England. They would go on holiday and see a temple or building that interested them. They would come home and make a replica on their manor. This always reminded me of something a rich old earl would put on his land and have tea in.

This is the same little structure. I dont think the Earl would appreciate the conditions of his little hut.

I have tried to work out what this has been used for. It has an air conditioner. I have never seen anyone go in or out, and there are curtains. I’ll keep an eye out.

Autumn is a great time of year, well technically winter. This shot makes me feel like there is no one around even in the middle of a busy suburb.

Another very Autumny shot. To the right is a the mansion in Kamesburgh Gardens. A school currently leases it so you cant get in.

I didn’t get any good shots of the building so none here. I would like to get into the building to see inside.

This was a bit of experiment to see what kind of look I could get. I like the look of the plant in focus.

I really liked how the fern was growing out of the tree. I have a tendency to kill ferns, so I like to see them in the wild.

I am really pleased with this photo. I came upon the crow on my way back. I was trying to get my camera out before it flew away. I just got the camera out in time and got a few shots off. We made eye contact, it looked at me with suspicion.

When I first moved to Brighton this building was in good condition. It has not stayed that way, and I think for the purpose of photography that is a good thing. It’s interesting in a suburb of multi-million dollar properties, dont get excited I’m not in one of them, you can still find this type of decay. I wonder how many people walk past disgusted.

This is such a strange place to have a petrol pump. I assume this once was a petrol station. Now it just looks like a place time forgot.

Last Brighton in decay photo. The sun was in a great spot, and the graffiti really stood out. Again, it interesting to see this in a place the has a ridiculously high gardener to resident ratio.

Back home, and this flower stood out to have a shot.
